VOLUNTEER
PROGRAM INFORMATION Volunteers will be able to choose their own program with the help of the director of the volunteer program, mentor or a member of the advisory committee. Some of the time frames could be:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Financial needs will vary but in general, for those who are volunteering for a longer period of time and in different geographical areas, there will be a stipend and the community will provide room and board. Volunteers will live in community on a few sites but the main focus of the program is on service, not on building community. They will live in an HM house or inexpensive housing will be provided. An effort will be made to have several volunteers at the same time, but this is not always possible because of the time commitment made by a volunteer. Americorps Education Awards are available depending on the volunteer placement. Transportation to and from the site will be provided to long-term volunteers. Health insurance is provided for all year-long volunteers. Those volunteering for shorter periods of time are asked to provide their own health insurance.
